A Glasgow restaurant is celebrating after taking home the coveted Scottish Restaurant of the Year title.
Independent restaurant The Gannet has won the AA Scottish Restaurant of the Year 2015/16 title after being praised for its ability to mix serious food and service with a relaxed and informal style.
Opened by owners Peter McKenna and Ivan Stein in Finnieston, this is the first Glasgow restaurant to collect the award since seafood institution Rogano won in 2012.
Mr McKenna said: "It was two years ago this week that we opened the doors of The Gannet to the public for the first time. Who would have thought that we would be accepting such a prestigious award in such a short space of time?
"There are so many fantastic restaurants in Scotland so we are honoured and humbled to be named the AA Scottish Restaurant of the Year for 2015/16."
The AA has been recognising hotels since 1908, awarding venues and restaurants annual awards for industry standards, quality and service.
Scott Taylor, Chief Executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: "Congratulations to The Gannet. Their success is a real win for the city’s burgeoning restaurant scene. Glasgow is home to a selection of really brilliant restaurants that offer terrific value for money.
"As such, we’ve become a European dining destination of choice, which is reflected by the fact that we’re now seeing more restaurants opening in the city that anywhere else in Scotland."
